Excel International Schools Owerri was established since 1994 by Chief Hon. Dr. Mrs Janet B. Okwara who was the Former Commissioner for Education in Imo State between 1991 to 1993 during the regime of His Excellency, Senator Evan Enwerem.

The School was established on 2 hectares of land in a prime location of   New Owerri, opposite Nigeria Television Authority near Concorde Hotel ,  Owerri Imo State Nigeria, West Africa.

The secondary school is a specialised Science, Arts, and  vocational education for boys and girls. It is a WAEC, and BECCE certified center accredited for excellence.
